Q: Why don't you list your distributors on your site?
A: As much as it might help our customers and potential customers to have this information, due to the vast variety of our products and the fact that most of our customers stock only a portion of them; we feel it would be a disservice to our customers to list them without qualification on our site. Please call us or email us with the products you are looking for and we will give you the best and nearest source!
Q: What does it mean when appliances are referred to as Category I, II, III or IV?
A: In North America, Listed Gas Fired Appliances (other than water heaters) are required to determine category as part of the appliance certification process. The category indicates the conditions that are normally encountered inside the vent. Generally speaking Category I and II appliances rely on gravity to lift the products of combustion from the appliance to the atmosphere, whereas Category III or IV have fans, blowers or explosive forces that force the exhaust out the vent. Category I and III appliances have products of combustion that are generally above the dew point (non-condensing) while II and IV are cooler and likely to condense continually in the vent.
Q: Why then do the codes require a corrosion resistant vent for category III appliance if it doesn't normally condense?
A: Because these appliances rely on external forces to clear the products of combustion from the vent, when they are not operating any residual flue gases in the vent will quickly cool and condense. Also since there is no dilution air incorporated the exhaust gases are concentrated. Any acids in the flue gas will concentrate quickly and destroy conventional vent materials.
Q: You have many options of Special Gas Vent; when and where should I use which?
A: Each of our products has a best use as described on this site, however that best use is seldom the only allowable use. Please call our technical representatives to discuss your choices if you are unsure.
